GitHub Copilot in VS Code + nittim: set up in two minutes
Connect nittim to GitHub Copilot in VS Code, then ask for a scan. The scan is free and needs no key.
Steps
- In your project, create .vscode/mcp.json. For every project instead, run MCP: Open User Configuration from the Command Palette.
- Add the nittim entry from the snippet below inside the servers object. VS Code uses servers, not mcpServers.
- Save the file. VS Code shows a Start button above the entry. Select it and trust the server when asked.
- Open Copilot Chat in agent mode. Configure Tools in the chat box lists the nittim tools.
Install
Add this to .vscode/mcp.json.
{
"servers": {
"nittim": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://nittim.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}First thing to say
Scan this repo with nittim and tell me what it finds.
Questions
- Do I need a key for the free scan?
- No. The free scan, the module list and the price estimate work without a key. A key is only for paid audits, and you can mint one when you want one.
- What does it cost?
- The scan is free. A paid audit shows its price first and charges nothing until the account owner confirms it on a link. See the pricing page for the numbers.
- What does nittim see?
- Only what your assistant sends in a call: the files for a scan, or the repository you name for an audit. Nothing else on your machine is reachable from nittim.
